TV TIME: GAME GUIDE is a fan publication centered around Mr. "Ant" Tenna from DELTARUNE, featuring parody game screenshots, interviews, and other content arranged to mimic the format of video game manuals.
For a comprehensive look at how this project works, please read the project brief first. The following section are questions that we have received while running this project.
Q: Will this project be printed?
A: Yes, TV TIME: GAME GUIDE will be a physical book. We estimate the book to be 64 pages measuring 190 x 260 mm, though the page number may change at staff discretion.Q: Can I contribute as both a writer and an artist?
A: Yes!Q: What if I have a specific person I would like to work with on a game concept?
A: Submit your applications separately and add a note in the “Comments and Questions” section of your application. If you are both accepted into the project, you are welcome to partner up!Q: I previously created a work that fits the concept of this project; can I submit that for publication?
A: Provided that your work does not appear in another project, yes.Q: Is this a for-profit project?
A: Yes. While most of the money earned from sales will be spent on production to ensure a high quality product, any remaining funds will be split among contributors and staff.Q: How many contributors will be accepted?
A: In the early contributor phase, we will accept 4–6 applicants total. The final number of contributors will be determined at a later date using the data collected from the interest check and the overall number of applications we receive. Given the intended scale of the project, we have the tentative cap set at 20–25 contributors.Q: Are there any limits as to what medium we can use?
A: As this will be a physical publication, any medium that does not translate well to a physical page will not be allowed. For example, animations will not be accepted due to incompatibility.Q: Can I reference UNDERTALE in my work?
A: While the project primarily focuses on Tenna and DELTARUNE, references to UNDERTALE are allowed. Just remember to keep Tenna at center stage!Q: What time period is the project based on?
A: Our project aims to emulate the aesthetic of late 90s/early 00s video game guides.Q: Am I limited to retro games when I make my game concept?
A: No. You are free to take inspiration from modern video games as long as you present them in the retro aesthetic.Q: How should I format my portfolio for submission?
A: You may link us to a website where your work is posted or you can collect your pieces in a Google Drive folder and link that. Whichever method you choose, the most important thing is that your artwork or writing is easily and immediately viewable. For example, it may be difficult for staff to find your work on your Tumblr if you post and repost a lot of other content there. Please do not link paywalled content. It will not be reviewed.Q: Are there any specific game manuals this project is using for references?
A: We’ve taken inspiration from manuals for the Earthbound series, Moon: Remix RPG Adventure, and Animal Crossing (specifically Wild World and City Folk). But there are many more amazing game guides out there!Q: How will shipping be handled?
A: Shipping arrangements will be handled by Laine, our project lead. She is based in the EU, so prices and delivery times will likely be influenced by that. We will have more information to share once we are closer to the beginning of production.Q: What are the art standards for applicants?
A: Art is so subjective that this is difficult to quantify. If the staff likes your work and believes it fits the vibe or fills a niche that we need, we will definitely consider you. The only real way to find out is to apply!Have a question you're itching to ask? Stop by our Tumblr askbox, or send an email to [email protected] with "QUESTIONS" in the subject line!
